The dryer works fine -- clothes get dry and the settings are pretty simple. However, the buzzer that comes on (twice, not once as noted elsewhere in reviews) at the end is unbearable. It is SO loud, at a level only appropriate for a laundromat, not a home. It lasts anywhere from 2 seconds to a never-ending 10+ seconds, and there is no switch to turn it off. DO NOT BUY this dryer if you live in a smaller home, if you have a pet, or if you value your sanity.

Over Dries clothes, no Delicate setting

Although the dryer has a large capacity drum, it only has two heat settings: High and Medium. It does not have a low setting for Delicate fabrics. Whenever I set it to ™€œMore Dry™€ it over dries the clothes to the point that they are crispy and hard, whether I choose High or Medium heat. Even when setting it to ™€œLess Dry™€ I have to constantly check the clothes to make sure they™€™re not over dried. My previous 17 year old GE dryer, did a much better job at drying clothes.

This is our second purchase of a GE Commercial dryer. It has the capacity to dry bedspreads and blankets, has analog controls that never stop working (unlike those fancy digital ones), and does a great job. Our only complaint is we cannot find a way to turn off the ending buzzer.

Commercial Quality But Has 1 Flaw

Construction, design, and controls are simple and hope these lend to its durability and longevity. Cycles are straight to the point. Drum capacity is good enough for matching washer. User has to figure out the best temperature and time settings for best performance and efficiency, as this machine isn't filled with fancy sensors and features, being a commercial model. However, there is one disappointing issue: the lint screen is too small for the lint it generates and gets overfilled even before the cycle is done. I guess it depends on the clothes fabric you're drying. The only solution is to pause the cycle and clean out the lint trap once. If the screen gets too overfilled with lint, clumps of lint actually escape from the trap and gets back inside the drum, mixing in with the clothes and sticking to them - not good at all. Hence the 4 stars. This machine could have been designed better with a much larger lint trap.

Works very well. The sensors shut it off when the fabric is dry. The buzzer is very loud. When it is pushed tight against the washer, something on the drum slams against the inside of the metal enclosure. It does it if you press even the slightest bit on the side of the dryer. It™€™s like the clearance isn™€™t large enough on the inner case and or the drum has something sticking out that knocks on the sheet metal as it goes around. That shouldn™€™t be doing that so I™€™m considering calling for a replacement or service.

Hoping simple lasts longer

I chose the GR industrial model to replace my 23 y-o Maytag because I don™€™t need the bells and whistles of the fancy models. I wanted something that would work and not brake after 1 week or 3 months of use. And I didn™€™t want to pay $1400 for the Speed Queen. So far this works although I have to operate it in high heat instead of the low heart I used with the Maytag. I had to shorten the venting tube so it would dry faster. First round took 1h32min. After shortening the venting hose and using high heat, it took 50 min. The service man explained that all HE machines now have a lower heat setting to save on utility bills. It will do as long as it doesn™€™t brake soon.. time will tell.

We were so sick of our high end LG with way too many settings that we never used, it's short life span, and ongoing breakdowns. Let's get back to basics! No digital read outs just 2 dials and a push start. Dries properly, easy to use, and nice big drum. We hope it lasts a long time. Only drawbacks are: no light in dryer and buzzer seems a bit excessive on volume, but neither are a deal breaker.

The life expectancy of appliances in this day and age is poor. Therefore a 5-star rating is impossible to give. I will say the 5 year warranty on parts, service, and labor sold us. (I understand government reglations have made it impossible for manufacturers to build them to last. Thank you Big Brother.) Instead we dump them in landfills. I also discovered the buzzer that sounds when drying is completed is LOUD and annoying with no way to change the setting, that I can see at this point. Disabling it would likely void the warranty so I guess we live with it. The feature is nice but must it wake the dead? We have used it one day. My hope is the 4-stars holds longer than 5 years and 1 day. Sorry for the pesimistic review unfortunately this is our experience so far with all appliances purchased in this day and age. Hold on to your old appliances until they die completely!

We like the dryer™€™s capacity. As long as we keep the exhaust clear, the time it takes to dry large loads is respectable. As you have read in other reviews, the end of cycle buzzer is EXTREMELY LOUD and LONG!!! To the GE engineers; if you know the buzzer is loud enough to garner all these complaints, then design a softer buzzer and make them available. This is our only complaint. Please make a softer buzzer AND an option to silence the buzzer.

Supposed to be a work horse

I have had to have 3 parts replaced so that it would dry, the tumbler would stop when the door opened and the light would come on - it makes a lot of vibration noise - the repairman has showed me that the parts causing the vibration are not bolted together - just resting on eachother - really? Sheet metal touching sheet metal in a machine isn™€™t going be noisy without being secured? Vibration is less after a lot of messing around on the part of the repairman but not gone - very disappointed in this product
