Very noisey. Vibration was horrible during spin cycle. After 7 years the smell was bad and the drum went bad, Had to replace. The spin cycle was always loud from day 1.

I have had this for 3 years, and it was an excellent one. On the 4 year it started leaking and with every wash. The drum just is the problem, it is too heavy to be supported by the weights and shocks it has. Cost of repair, $1,100 and another $400 to replace the door boot seal. Repairs are more than what I have bought the washer and dryer set!!! Switching to LG as they warranty their drum and motor for 10 years!!! GE needs to acknowledge the leaking problem as everyone is complaining about it.

Bought this washer 6 years ago. Has always worked well for a house with 2 boys (so.many.dirty.things.to.wash). Stopped mid-cycle, towels are soaked, door gasket shredding, filled up drain filter, small water leak. Replaced the gasket and two of the shocks, but looking like the "spider bracket" is the root of the problem. I'm pretty handy, but debating if i should sink more time and money into this machine or not. I would expect that a washer that retails for this much would last longer.

I™™ve had this washer for about 4-5 years. I already had to replace the door once, and now it™™s breaking again! The hinge on the door is awful - so weak. I even tried propping it up on something while not in use, but the darn thing is breaking again. I feel like I will be going down a rabbit hole if I keep having to replace the door time and time again. I™™m almost at the point where I™™m gonna buy a new washing machine, and not one from GE.

we replaced a different front load that we owned for over 10 years with this piece of crap. We purchased it brand new about 4 years ago and have had nothing but issues with it. It got off balance easily. We had to replace the "shocks" under it because one snapped apart. Now the motor smells like it's burning and it appears that the weight on the back of the drum is cracked. It is constantly off balance and violently rattles and shakes - we have to stop the washer numerous times. The black plastic around the door has been getting chewed off because of its shaking. I have found shaved plastic in my clothing as well as in the drain pump. Now I'm looking to replace this unit...GRRRR!!

Purchased matched pair for new home. Shortly after warranty expired Softener and bleach dispenser failed to dispense products. Several articles of clothing were ruined by bleach that should have been dispensed in white cycle appears to have been dispensed in following wash cycle (colored clothes). So we no longer add bleach or softener. THEN, knob that allows setting for cycles failed to allow changes (spins freely).

GE Strikes Again!

I used to be a staunch GE fan in the early 2000's. Since, EVERY GE appliance has either cost me up to 50% of the regular price to repair, or has broken beyond a cost-effective fix. This washer is no exception - it was in the home when we bought it. Only after 8 years of a single person using the washer it requires a new $700 part. Unbelievable. The only good outcome here is I get to replace it with a competitor's model. Other issues I've had with GE- Refrigerator with cheap handles, seals, and relays. Dryers that require belts, and a microwave that almost dropped it's door off on us. Trust me, GE doesn't stand for the old USA pride in work and it cares even less about customer service (each time, the answer was "so sorry"). I vote with my dollar and I'm NOT voting GE appliance! Don't get fooled - replacing your mid-90 s GE appliance with today's model is NOT the same company and certainly not the same customer service.

The unit washed the first year like a charm. Since then it does constant rebalancing. It doesn't matter if it is a small or big load. A 1 hour load takes 1:30-2h. Tech and manual say up to 20 rebalancings are normal. Each rebalance adds 8 min to the cycle.

Door Design Flaw

A few things about this washer, good and bad: First the good. It has a large capacity and is customizable to the wash I need. I am tall, and my clothes take a lot of room in the washer. My wash fits well. The negative aspects of this are continuing in the current models. First, the fill valves are cheap. They turn off very quickly and cause the pipes to hammer and bang. I had to install arrestors. The biggest issue is the glass design. I am sure it helps move clothes in the drum, but residue and lint gather at the bottom of it. This causes a pinch in the door gasket and a leak. It is an annoying issue. The final flaw, is that a lot of lint goes out on the dirty water discharge. I have a septic tank, and this link clogs my septic filter. I had a Bosch washer which was far superior. Maybe Haier will make things better.

This machine has been great for 3.5 years, but now the drum is broken. The repair estimate is almost as much as a new machine. 3-4 years on a new machine, seems like way too early to have a major problem. Apparently, the GE warranty is only good for one year. We have a matching dryer and now a new washer won't match. Can not recommend.

Very disappointed with this washing machine and I am encountering the same fault as everyone else below with regards to my drum bearing being faulty, causing the innner and outer drum to rub, leaving minor leaks on the floor and having a real loud sound during the spinning process. Here's a pic of my lint plug and guess what I found, many shredded pieces of plastic and rubber!!! Cost of the repair will be more than what I paid for the washer itself. My question is that if GE knows about this why isn't there a recall for this? Why aren't the customers being compensated in any way? Washing machines shouldn't be disposable pieces of equipment, they should last more than 3 years. I really hope someone reaches out to me with my concern.

This was purchased in December, 2017 with the matching dryer. Reviews seemed to be good and with GE as the venerable company, I thought it was a sound purchase. Wrong! The bearing on the drum failed. That caused the drum to warp and bend. The engineering of the machine is that you can™™t just replace the bearing. It is PART of the drum! The repair estimate was $1100!!! That™™s $300 more than the machine. It was 2 months past the warranty. So no relief from that. Major fail. Never to buy another GE appliance again. I can™™t trust that it won™™t be a throw away after 3 years.

I absolutely loved this machine until about a year ago. It started making sounds and the belt had to be replaced five months ago. The technician noted the cement (?) part at the top of the drum is cracked. How the heck does that happened??? Five moths later my machine is loud again and the bearing is seizing. A few more hundred???? I think not. Disappointed in this GE product. Seems to hit a certain point and falls apart. I did have the ge tech come out prior to the one year warranty expiring but can™™t remember what for.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT if you want your machine to last longer than 2 years. We bought this machine in August of 2017. After a year or so, we noticed that the spin cycle was getting loud. Come to find out that this machine (along with many other front end load machines) have a fatal flaw. The Spider bracket that holds the inner drum has a tendency to crack and break. The only way to repair this, is to completely break down the machine, and the cost of the part is $400. GE knows about this problem, and rather than fixing it, they just changed their warranty from a 20 year limited on the inner drum to a one-year. You can see their old warranty at https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=1-X494.pdf . The new warranty is only one year, period. Called GE, and they were nice, but still wont cover even the part. RIDICULOUS! I always thought GE was a decent brand (I own GE fridge, stove, washer and dryer), wont be buying anymore of their products.

I love this washing machine. Tons of features, yet very easy to figure out. It does an excellent job on everything type of laundry I've used it for. One key feature and it's important for front loading washers, is the clean the tub feature. Water can sit in your washer after a load and that's not good. Not from lack of draining but just the nature of the beast with a front loader. IE, check under the gasket after a load is finished. After awhile, the tub smells stale. I used the clean tub feature and it smells brand new again. I know the "water issue" is a drawback on front loaders, but it saves so much water and is so much more efficient that the top loaders. Transferring wet clothes from washer to dryer is so much easier with a front loader also. So the clean the tub feature was a huge plus with this washer.

Purchased from late Aug 2017. cleans well, no issues except final spin is rather noisy and leaves slight smell as if motor is overheating from final high speed spin cycle. I'm going to call GE and have them look while it's under warranty. I like GE's history, and I try to support American companies, but I'm rather cautious about this one.

i bough this about 2 months ago but since day one i contact home depot letting them know washer makes a lot of noise when spin cycle and vibrates a lot also they decide to send me installation people to take a look , well days past till they come to take a look and they say they were not sure but that it was really noisy and vibration was a lot so ok i contact again home depot they now say i only had 3 days to have this reported so i can have the washer exchanged i was like what i reported that since they one so because some one decide to have the washer inspect by the delivery persons now i cant do any thing my washer still vibrates a lot and makes a lot of noise it is very noisy and i have the laundry room up stairs and vibrates a lot .....
